Planning a Saturday in the West End
An afternoon show fits around the rest of your day. You can shop or see a gallery in the morning, laugh through the afternoon and still have the evening free for dinner, drinks or a theatre ticket. Central London is busy on a Saturday, and the Tube and the pavements around Leicester Square fill up quickly. Give yourself extra time to get there. Doors open before the show starts, and arriving early means an easier choice of seat and time to get a drink from the bar.
Coming as a group? Book everyone on the same performance so you can sit together. Seats are not numbered, so a group that arrives together has the best chance of a row side by side. Ask everyone to be seated before the start, because a late arrival can lose their place to someone on the waiting list.
What happens at an afternoon show
A host opens the show, talks to the room and introduces each comedian in turn. You see several stand-ups, each doing their own set. The lineup changes every week, so a return visit is a new show.
Afternoon audiences are a mix of Londoners, visitors and friends meeting up before a night out. The jokes are written for adults, which is why every show is 18+ and photo ID is checked at the door.

Saturday Afternoon Comedy FAQ
What is the age requirement?
All guests must be 18 or over. Please bring valid photo ID as you may be asked for it on arrival.
How do I find out who is performing?
We announce our lineups on our website, under each show's info. Lineups can change at short notice (illness, TV filming, travel) — a change of act is not grounds for a refund.
What if I arrive late?
Please arrive on time. If you arrive after the show has started, your space may be given away to someone on the waiting list, and no refund or transfer is offered for a late arrival.
Is there a bar at the show?
Yes, at both venues. The 4PM Soho show is downstairs at The Spice of Life and the 5PM Covent Garden show is at Arboretum, which has a full bar inside the venue — so you can grab a drink before the show wherever you go.
Are the venues accessible?
Both rooms are reached by stairs — the 4PM show is in the basement at The Spice of Life (Soho) and the 5PM Covent Garden show is in the comedy room at Arboretum. Unfortunately there is no step-free access at any of our venues. Please email info@jkcomedyclub.co.uk before booking if you have accessibility needs and we'll advise.
